Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I invest in completing an inventory, documentation and appraisal of my residential contents and/or collections?

Risk Reduction: To an insurance agent/carrier a homeowner becomes a "preferred risk" when you can substantiate and confirm your assets in the event of a loss. The acquisition and investment of your residential contents and/or collections develops over time. Specifically, time can create a gap in your true value and this gap equates to a potential loss. In addition, a complete record of your contents and their values assist in properly insuring your assets and maximizing insurance expenditures.

Proactive Planning: The majority of claims are post-loss activities. By proactively managing your insurance and financial planning, a complete inventory and/or appraisal of your assets can increase the accuracy and efficiency towards losses or subsequent planning.

Preservation of Wealth: Protecting and preserving the non-financial assets you own can substantiate monetary value and appreciation. In addition, having this information is necessary when considering gifting/donating or distribution to heirs.

How does the Asset Archives process work?

To determine how Asset Archives is able to help you, we offer a complimentary consultation to learn exactly what your needs and objectives are, introduce the available services, and gauge the scope of work. This can be an onsite or telephone consultation in conjunction with an online client questionnaire to obtain the necessary information.

Asset Archives will then proceed to provide a formal proposal that outlines the recommendations along with a firm project quote. With the client's approval, we then schedule a time for our team to complete the on-site work.

How are updates completed?

Asset Archives works with clients on an ongoing basis to provide update services as needed. There are various update service plan options depending on the scope of work involved (adding new items, updating appraisals, etc.). Clients may add or update assets via the electronic cd rom or online in a secure web based archive. These changes are then audited, updated and delivered to the client and/or reflected online. In cases where appraisals are requested or the client would like for Asset Archives to digitally capture the information an on-site visit will be required. Updates completed by Asset Archives maintains consistency, and protects the client from any conflict of interest by involving an objective third party.

How do we price?

Asset Archives takes a consultative approach to pricing. We endeavor to gather as much information as possible relevant to the objectives and needs of the client as well as the scope of the project. Factors that help us to obtain an overview of the work involved include the number of items, types of items and the size of the home. We then use this information to determine a price based upon length of time. This process helps to ensure an accurate and firm quote for the project that will not change unless the client makes modifications to the scope of work.

How does Asset Archives handle and store my data securely?

AAI protects data using both technology and business processes. From a technical perspective AAI uses computers with strict security policies including; password protected access permissions, virus protection software and employee training on computer and internet security issues.

All field computers are secured in compliance with National Security Agency (NSA) best practices, all corporate servers utilize 3 phase security for most operations, and meet or exceed the requirements for NSA best practices. All data goes through a secure back up process monthly and is stored in an offsite bank vault. AAI follows a strict privacy policy regarding client data and does not share any data without the express written consent of the client.

Does Asset Archives provide a video service?

No. The final format is delivered electronically via a cd rom or in a secure web based solution. While we recommend that every individual complete a residential inventory regardless of the format, we have found that extracting detail, organizing, updating and sharing information through a video renders this method ineffective.
